The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced a three-player list for the Women’s Player of the Month for November, which included Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal.
Sadia along with two Bangladesh women’s players, Nahida Akter and Fargana Hoque, have been shortlisted for the Player of the Month award which will be announced by the ICC in the coming days.
Sadia, 28, was Pakistan’s best and most useful weapon with the ball as the left-arm spinner picked six wickets at an average of 12.5 and economy of 2.58 during the Green Shirts’ tour to Bangladesh last month.
The left-armer registered her career-best 4/13 spell in the first ODI against Bangladesh as the entire home side was bundled out for just 81 runs. The Green Shirts chased the target with ease.
In the second ODI, she struck two wickets while conceding 32 runs in the allocated overs. Meanwhile, in the third ODI, although she didn’t pick any wickets but only gave away 30 runs from 60 balls.
On the other hand, Bangladesh’s Nahida and Fargana were nominated for their fantastic performances against Pakistan.
The ICC also announced Men’s Player of the Month nominees on the same day.
The Australian duo of Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell were nominated along with India’s ace pacer Mohammed Shami.
Head was the Player of the Match in the World Cup 2023 final against India where the left-handed batter smashed 137 off 120 with 19 boundaries and helped the Aussies clinched their record-extending sixth title.
Maxwell played one of the finest innings of all time as he single-handedly guided Australia to a remarkable victory against Afghanistan in the World Cup 2023 round-robin match.
The 35-year-old played with cramps and pain but didn’t stop for once as he formed a 202-run stand with Pat Cummins and snatched the win for the Afghans.
Shami wreaked havoc with the ball in the World Cup. The right-handed pacer claimed a whopping 24 wickets in just seven matches and India’s most deadly weapon with the ball.
